I'm Sick

Yes, I know it sucks. It appears to be a sinus infection, the first time I've been sick in almost 3 years.

Obviously this has impacted my productivity, which also sucks. I haven't taken a covid test or anything, but I probably will after my symptoms subside.

Hoping to feel well enough to get in some editing at least later today.

Ugh.

50k!

Just crossed over the 50k mark on Trinity's Children. It's due in December, and based on the progress I'm making, that should be achievable. I have a lot going on this year, moving, a new romance, Trinity comes out October 5th, Orycon 42 in November, ECCC in December... plus the holidays and all that stuff. Simple. Not a problem.

At least Barkley has confidence in me.

Shattered Trust

So the Trinity promo story, 'Shattered Trust', is nearly complete. I'm just finishing the edits now, likely today. Currently it's at 6,400 hundred words, just a teensy bit over the 5,000 words requested (oops!). I'll be trying to cut some more today before I sign the contracts and mail them back, then email the story to my editor, Tony Daniel.

I think the story will be available for free on baen.com in September.

Euro 2020 Final

So the finals of Euro 2020 are being played today. Yes, I know, it's 2021, but... Covid.

In this one my heart says England but my head says Italy. I'm predicting 1-1 after extra time with Italy winning on penalties. Sorry, lads. I hope I'm wrong.

Update: So, I was exactly right. Italy won on pens (3-2) after a 1-1 draw for 90 minutes and 30 minutes of extra time. The England manager, Gareth Southgate, must go.

TRINITY Short Story Coming

I'm currently taking a break from writing Trinity's Children in order to write a short story of the Baen.com website. The story will be a preview of sorts for TRINITY, which comes out October 5th.

The story is tentatively called "Shattered Trust" and it will end up being both a sequel and a prequel at the same time. How is that possible, you may ask? Simple. It's a prequel to the main novel, but occurs subsequent to the Prologue. So, sequel and prequel. It's coming along nicely.
